Plastic Coil Binding

The world as we know it may not be possible without the invention of plastic coil binding machines. You may be required to punch the holes on the notebooks, sew the pages with yarn and then tie off the ends to seal the notebook, so to speak.

It will make for a great craft project but it may not be for you.

Bind Fast

With a coil binding machine, however, it will align the pages, punch the holes, insert the coil and then cut the coil ends in order to bind the pages.  You may have to use elbow grease to achieve the purpose but it is definitely better than doing everything by hand especially when you have to bind 90 to 300 papers.

The number of pages will depend on the comb diameter of the plastic coil binding machine – the higher it is, the more pages the machine can bind.  No matter how many pages are to be bound, you cannot deny that this is definitely faster than manual labor from start to finish.

Added advantages to the machine include allowing the operator to press flat the documents while the pages are being folded back.  You may also take advantage of easy document editing even for larger jobs.

Binder Types

You can choose from separate machines for larger jobs, which means that the puncher and comb opener are distinct equipment.  However, you should also look into the merits of all-in-one plastic coil binding machines for low to medium jobs.  It really depends on the frequency, quantity and quality of work desired from the coil binding machine when it comes to choosing which one is right for your needs, budget and preferences.

You also have the choice between manual and electric plastic coil binders.  As can be expected, both will require human operation although in varying degrees.  After all, you have to feed the electric plastic coil binder with the paper to be aligned, punched and bounded.

Along with the machines, each package may also include related supplies, thus, forming a complete pack.  These supplies may include front covers in clear, frosted, vinyl, linen, glossy and embossed forms; backing boards for support; as well as sets of coils in various colors of the rainbow and pitches from 4 to 5 holes per inch or 5 to 6 per millimeter.  In many ways, all you need is the report, presentation and mini-report to bind and you are set to take full advantage of the plastic coil binding machine.

You may also be provided with screw posts and its extensions for photo albums and metal loose leaf binder rings to bind laminated pages.  Just ask the store clerk about these supplies and purchase additional stocks.  At the very least, you will not be wasting time, effort and money running out of the office to purchase a coil just because you ran out at the most inopportune time.

A plastic coil binding machine is a wise investment for many types of environment.  You can use it in college to bind dissertations, lecture notes, thesis, reports and even course packets.  You should have one of it in your business office, church and home just so you have your bases covered.
